Our Story

Grove is a small independent workshop on a former farm in Margate, Kent. Our benches, machines and timber racks fill an old barn at Vincent Farm that once upon a time stored agricultural produce. Now it's where everything we sell is built by hand for each customer.

The brand has a longer story than the name. Rustic Grove began making solid-wood furniture here in 2021, in this same barn, and earned hundreds of five-star reviews doing it. In early 2026 they came into financial difficulty and, seeing the potential of the business, we acquired it: the brand, the designs, the product line and the review history that came with them, and rebranded as Grove. New ownership, same barn, same craft. Built to the same specification, from the same solid timber, with new and improved systems in place.

How Grove works

We are the manufacturer. Raw sawn timber comes into the barn as boards; finished furniture leaves it. We machine, joint, sand and hand-finish every piece ourselves. Nothing is imported finished, nothing is resold from a warehouse, and we don't dropship. When you order, we build it for you, to your measurements, within one week.

We sell what we build. Every piece comes from our own workshop, whether you order here at madebygrove.co.uk or through one of our marketplace listings. Ordering direct gives you the full made-to-measure range. Your width to the centimetre, your depth, your finish, your legs. Delivered free to mainland UK by a two-person crew who carry it to the room of your choice.

Why we make furniture this way

Most furniture isn't built to last. It's particleboard with a picture of wood printed on top, flat-packed, and quietly designed to be replaced in a few years. A desk you sit at every day deserves better than that.

So we make ours the proper way: solid wood throughout, thick sawn tops, finished by hand in hardwax oil. No veneer, no MDF, and no two pieces are the same, thanks to the grain of the wood.

Every piece carries our 25-year guarantee. A guarantee from a workshop, not a call centre. If the frame or joinery ever fails in normal use, message us on the website or email and we'll put it right. We expect every piece to outlast the guarantee.
